Toothache
A toothache is a sharp or dull pain in or around a tooth, often caused by tooth decay, infection, gum disease, tooth grinding, or dental trauma. It can range from mild discomfort to severe, throbbing pain and may be accompanied by swelling, sensitivity to temperature, and difficulty chewing or biting.
Sensitivity
Tooth sensitivity is a condition where teeth become painful or uncomfortable in response to certain stimuli, such as hot or cold foods, sweet or acidic substances, or even air exposure. It occurs when the protective enamel covering the tooth becomes thinner or when the gums recede, exposing the sensitive underlying dentin.
Broken Filling/ Tooth
A broken filling or tooth refers to damage or fracture in a dental filling or the actual tooth structure. It can result from various factors like decay, trauma, or wear over time. This damage can cause discomfort, sensitivity, or difficulty chewing, and it often requires dental intervention to repair and restore the tooth’s integrity.
Swelling/Abscess
Swelling or dental abscess is a localized collection of pus caused by a bacterial infection. It typically results from untreated tooth decay, gum disease, or dental trauma. Symptoms may include swelling, pain, redness, and sometimes fever. Treatment usually involves draining the abscess and addressing the underlying cause through dental procedures such as root canal therapy or tooth extraction. Prompt attention is necessary to prevent the spread of infection and alleviate discomfort.
Denture Adjustments
Denture adjustment is a process of modifying or refining dental prosthetics, such as dentures, to improve comfort, fit, and functionality. This adjustment may involve reshaping the denture base, refining the bite alignment, or addressing pressure points that cause discomfort. Denture adjustments will be performed by our dentists to ensure that the prosthetic device fits securely and comfortably in the patient’s mouth, allowing for proper speech, chewing, and overall oral function.
Re-Cement Crowns & Bridges
Re-cementing crowns or bridges involves the process of securely attaching them back onto the prepared teeth or implants. This procedure is necessary when the original cement layer has weakened or deteriorated, causing the restoration to become loose or dislodged. Dental professionals clean the restoration and the tooth structure, then apply new dental cement to reattach the crown or bridge firmly in place. This restores the functionality and aesthetics of the dental restoration, ensuring proper oral health and function.
Dental Trauma
Dental trauma encompasses injuries to the teeth, gums, mouth, or jaw resulting from accidents, sports injuries, or other impacts. It ranges from minor chips to severe issues like tooth avulsion or jaw fractures. Prompt evaluation and treatment by a dentist or oral surgeon are essential to prevent further damage and preserve affected teeth and tissues. Treatments may include repositioning teeth, root canal therapy, or dental implants. Swift action is crucial to prevent complications like infection or tooth loss.
Painful Gums
Gums that cause pain indicate discomfort or tenderness in the gum tissue, typically resulting from factors like gum disease, infections, injuries, or irritation from dental procedures or aggressive brushing. Signs may involve swelling, redness, bleeding, and heightened sensitivity. Seeking timely assessment from a dentist is essential to identify the root cause and prescribe suitable interventions, which might entail professional cleaning, medication, or adjustments in oral care routines. Swift action aids in easing discomfort and averting potential complications, fostering optimal gum well-being.
